BARRY Comprehensive School's sports competitions for this year have begun with the annual inter-house cross-country run.

In glorious sunshine to start, followed by torrential rain to finish, all boys from year seven competed in the inter-house competition, gaining points for their house and form. The race was exciting to the very finish, with the top three places secured by Saxon Arthur-Dyer, Ben Cooper and Harry O'Neill.

Years eight and nine completed races of their own, with the top three from year eight being Tom Broome, Joseph Riddick and Ellis Forrester. The year 9 race was won by Lewis Williams, with Carl Sutton and Harper Chamberlain finishing second and third respectively.

The best placed runners from each year group will form the representative school teams lining up for the first cross country fixture of the new season, starting at Ysgol Bro Morgannwg.
