WALES Millennium Centre celebrates Black History Month with a special tribute to Nelson Mandela. The celebrations will be held in partnership with Black History Association Wales and African Community Centre, with Wales Millennium Centre hosting two events throughout the month.

A GLAMOROUS event will be held at the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff on Friday, October 24 hosted by the Terrence Higgins Trust, the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity. Guests can come along to the event and raise much appreciated funds for the charity.

AFTER the huge success of 2013’s hilarious ‘I’ll Be There Now in a Minute’, the Williams family are back for a brand new show called ‘The Good, the Bad and the Welsh’. Performances will run from Wednesday, September 24 until Saturday 27.

THE guest speaker at Sully U3A's September meeting was Dean Powell. He is a guest speaker, journalist, author, broadcaster and vocalist. His prolific workload varies from presenting high-profile engagements in some of the world's largest concert halls to lecturing on the life of Welsh radical, Dr William Price, of whom he is considered the leading expert. Dean gave an enthralling account of William Price's life from his birth in 1800 to his death at the age of 92. William Price trained as a doctor studying at the London Hospital and becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons at the age of 21. He supported Welsh nationalism, wanted to build a Museum of Welsh Life, supported Chartism and was involved with the Druid religion. His achievements were many and various including creating Wales's first co-operative and performing a successful Caesarean operation on Francis Crawshay's wife.

SEVEN walkers joined Geraint and his sheepdog Patch for the journey to Machen where they were greeted by light rain and had to don coats but almost as soon as they set off the rain cleared and the sunshine returned. They joined the Rhymney River Circular Walk which is denoted by waymarkers containing a pretty dragonfly and walked downstream passing through a field of mixed livestock with ponies, calves and donkeys, deviating at one point where the path was overgrown on their journey to the pretty village of Draethen.

THIS October It’s My Shout Production will host its first ever four day film festival called Film Fest Cymru. The festival will celebrate new talent in film, television and the arts in Wales. From October 11 to 14, both in and around Cardiff Bay, the festival will showcase a wide range of groups and individuals that It’s My Shout has worked with over the year.

MADE by Hand: The Contemporary Craft Fair is coming to Cardiff this October and has announced the details of 135 diverse talented exhibitors that will attend the event. Running from October 31 until November 2, the event held at City Hall, is the largest craft fair held in Wales and will bring together exceptional craftwork from leading award-winning makers, which have all been handpicked by a panel of industry experts.
