BOTH Sully Cricket Club teams won with victories against Abercarn - away - and Penarth - home - respectively.
The away team won the toss and elected to field and soon had Abercarn in trouble with Khan, Sathish and Hyder taking a wicket apiece, but it was Saiful with a superb six for seven that was the star bowler.
Abercarn were all out for 95 and it was left to Sudesh with an excellent 65 not out supported by Krishna T 10 not out that enabled the Spartans to win by nine wickets.
Abercarn 95 all out
Sailfu 6 for 7
Sully CC 96 for1
Sudesh 65 not out
Krishna T 10 not out
The Spartans home team played Penarth in a game played in the true cricket spirit from start to finish, despite having to dodge the hailstones and a delay of 45 minutes to let the outfield dry out.
Penarth won the toss and elected to field and at 60 for four the Spartans looked in trouble against a good bowling attack and drying track.
A partnership of 110 between Jacob (61) and Santosh (20) would prove to be the match winning partnership taking the home team to 170 for five, before finishing on a credible 190 for seven.
In response Penarth went off with a sprint and were 60 for zero off 12 overs and looking in good shape.
Jacob with nine overs two for 16 and Morgan with nine overs three for 25 pegged the away team back and after 30 overs were 106 for five and needed some strong batting.
Two more wickets would fall as Penarth finished on 142 for seven leaving the Spartans victors by 48 runs.
Sully CC 190 for 7
Jacob 61
Santosh 20
Penarth 142 for 7
Morgan 3 for 25
Jacob 2 for 16
