A BARRY Island school teacher is proving a footie fixture-favourite have arranged a match between Pontypridd Town AFC and Deportivo la Cornuna B.

Acting deputy head teacher Dominic Broad has set up the Spanish game, for this coming July.

The first team will be playing a friendly match against Deportivo La Coruna’s B team at the El Mundo del Futbol ground and are currently taking part in a challenging training regime and be preparing tactically for weeks prior to the game.

TalkSPORT's Colin Murray has ready confirmed that he will be there again this year, and Steve Bunce has also will be making a return visit.

The game has been arranged by Dominic and Damien Broad and Sam Houldsworth, the Pontypridd Town management team.

Dominic said: “We did this following their competitive performance against Valencia CF B last season and through their friend Juan Sanchez, the director of JTL Travel.

“Olympic sprinter Darren Campbell has decided to support the team and is providing nutrition advice, training programmes, supplements and will be personally taking the team for a number of sprint sessions to get them up to speed with the Spanish giants.

“The club has already received national coverage and to add to the success, will be taking the first product of the Ponty Youth section, Owain Morgan, as part of the 18-man squad. A very proud day for all the coaches involved in the Pontypridd Town AFC youth system.”
