FC PUMAS 1

PARK VILLA 1

IT WAS a game of two halves as FC Pumas kept up their fighting spirit with a hard fought draw against a tough well organised Villa side.

With numerous injuries, suspensions, lads unable to make the game and lads not bothering to turn up, it was always going to be a tough test for the Premier Pumas and with goalkeeper Paul Fisher delayed Pumas voted to start with 10 men and put Davey Allen, making his first appearance for the A team, in goal until Fisher arrived.

Also drafted in was Frank Davidson and after a sabbatical to London last weekend, Captain Ian Weavers returned to the side.

Villa took the lead early on through ageless striker Jeff White who slotted home a penalty and with Fisher arriving Allen came on to play.

Pumas were awarded a penalty and Good stepped up to make it 1-1.

Nathan Paget was introduced for his Pumas debut, replacing Good who seems to have broken his nose. Paget slotted nicely in to the midfield along with Gino Cavaliere, Scott Christoforato, Weavers, Frank.

Anthony Randall was pushed up front for the lone striker's role and Nick Good, Clemoza, Powell and Allen kept things under wraps at the back.

Well done to Park Villa and good luck for the rest of the season and thanks to referee Chris Taylor for officiating. Everyone at FC Pumas would also like to wish Gwyn Good a speedy recovery and hope he gets well soon.

FC Pumas: Fisher, N.Good, Powell, Clemoza, Allen, Weavers, Randall, Christoforato, Davidson, Cavaliere, G.Good, Paget.

ABC LEASING 2

Pumas slipped to their second defeat inside a week in this Division 2 clash at Sully.

Pumas welcomed new signing Craig Lowry into the side and he took his place alongside skipper Dan Coles in another new central defensive partnership. Nelly and Ato were the full-backs and Evesy donned the gloves as Nickerson was not available. The midfield four comprised the returning Pickett on the left, Lil Chris on the right and the centre duo of Germon and the returning Fergie. Josh joined on-form Adam up front. Warming the bench were Joe Cleary, new father Drew and Curtis. ABC took the lead when a through ball split the Pumas defence. Evesy had no chance as the the ABC forward planted a shot into the top corner of the net. Ato made way for Cleary who seemed like a man possessed during the opening minutes of the second half. ABC looked to have made the game safe when a goalmouth scramble ended up with the ball nestled in the corner of the net.

Drew and Curtis were given much-needed game time and Lowry gave a very impressive display at the back. Josh and Lil Chris built on their match and Germon and Fergie built on a good partnership in the engine room.

Man of the Match for the Pumas was Nelly Jones Team: Evesy; Nelly, Coles, Lowry, Ato; Lil Chris, Germon, Fergie, Pickett; Goodwin, Godwin; Cleary, Drew, Curtis, Richard, Leighton.
