BARRY FC 0

CARDIFF AIRPORT 1

THE LINNETS face ASRS Cup finalists Bluebirds at Jenner Park tonight (Thursday) in a 6.45pm kick-off, and will be hoping for a better result than when they met in the cup semi-final a few weeks ago.

Barry FC met Cardiff Airport twice in the past week, earning a good draw at Rhoose last Tuesday, but succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at Jenner Park on Saturday.

At Rhoose, the home side took a second minute lead through Dave Taylor, heading in at the back post from a corner, but despite Airport's dominance, which included hitting the post and the bar during the first half, they were unable to increase their lead.

They were to pay for that in the second half when, with 20 minutes remaining, Barry manager Haydn Stait threaded through a pass which was deftly flicked into the net by Liam O'Connor, beating the offside trap to score his first goal of the season.

However, Airport gained revenge for dropping those points in midweek with a 1-0 win over Barry at Jenner Park, a back post header by Paul Kennedy doing the damage after half an hour.

There could be few complaints from an under-strength Barry team, especially taking into account the ratio of shots from both sides.

Barry went close early on when Kristian Shaw hit the bar, and could well have scored an equaliser when Karl Steel found himself in space on the edge of the box.

On the other hand, Airport missed some gilt-edged chances and saw O'Connor in the Barry goal pull off two excellent saves from one-on-one situations.

The goal itself was quite fortunate, a cross from the right taking a deflection off a Barry head and bouncing up kindly for an unmarked Kennedy to direct it home at the back post.

UNDER 15s

It's still tight in the Vale of Glamorgan under-15s league after a 1-1 draw between Barry FC and Barry Athletic last Thursday at the Athletic ground.

Josh Manning gave the Linnets the lead with a well-taken free-kick.

The Linnets bounced back with a victory over Vale Wanderers on Saturday.

The numbers in the Barry FC Linnets Lotto draw this week were 2, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 12. There were no winners, so next week's draw jackpot will be £680.

Next week will see numbers 1-15 in the draw, which will take place at the Castle Hotel on Jewel Street, at 7.30pm on Monday.

The club will be hosting a fundraising Skittles Night at the Wyndham Cons Club on Saturday, April 26, starting at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

Barry FC will be at home again on Tuesday at 6.45pm when they entertain Dockers at Jenner Park in the Vale of Glamorgan League.
