PARK VETS 3

AFC TADROSS 5

AFTER the cup final between these two teams the previous week this was always going to be a close and very competitive game.

Straight from kick off Park came out all fired up and looked the much stronger team, creating all the chances and having all the play.

Park took a deserved lead with about 20 minutes gone, when a flick on from Jeff White, was chased down by Austin White who slipped a neat pass inside for Barney to hit first time and smash the ball into the top corner.

Still Park were on top, but against the run of play Tadross were awarded a penalty. A long throw-in from the left bounced up and hit a Park player's hand, and the young winger stepped up and finished well to make it 1-1.

Park bounced straight back, and another flick on from Jeff White was chased down by Austin White whose cross was deflected to the edge of the 18 yard box, for man of the match Barney to claim his second of the game with another class finish.

Just before half time Tadross equalised, again against the run of play. A high ball put Park's goalkeeper under pressure, and he fumbled, leaving the Tadross striker a tap-in to make it 2-2.

The second half was a bit more evenly matched with both sides creating chances. Tadross were awarded a free kick just outside the area, and while Park were setting up the wall the Tadross striker took a quick free kick, which struck a Park player's hand as he was turning around.

The referee awarded Tadross yet another penalty, which again the young winger finished well.

Park were now pushing up trying to get an equaliser, but also leaving gaps in the defence, which Tadross capitalised on and a through ball saw the Tadross striker finish well, making it 4-2.

Park had lots of chances, including some bad misses and some great saves from the Tadross goalkeeper. They also had a bit of luck when the referee awarded them a free kick from a disputed back pass which was taken quickly and finished by Jeff White making it 4-3.

With a few minutes remaining Park threw everybody forward, but it was Tadross who scored again when the quick winger completed his hat trick with a good one-two and a fine finish, to make the final score 5-3.
