CADOXTON 2
WENVOE 2
DESPERATELY seeking a win in their fight against relegation, Cadoxton's hopes were foiled by a last minute equaliser by a determined Wenvoe.
Cadoxton started brightly, playing some nice football while the defence looked solid with keeper Mark Webber in outstanding form, well supported by the Bridgeman brothers.
Cadoxton opened the scoring when a speculative shot from Trevor Webb looped over the keeper's head.
But if that goal was slightly fortunate their second was breathtaking. Skipper John Hurn played a beautiful one-two with Ashley Davies before releasing a pinpoint pass to winger Max Webb who cut in and drove a low pass to his brother Trevor who smashed the ball into the net, to send Cadoxton into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.
Wenvoe came out for the second half in a determined mood but Cadoxton keeper Webber was in superb form and looked unbeatable. But eventually the pressure told and the Wenvoe attack fastened on to a loose ball to cut the deficit.
And end to end battle ensued, with Josh Goodwin and Max Webb working hard on the wings, constantly chasing back to pressure the Wenvoe attackers.
But the Cadoxton youngsters were tiring and just as they appeared to have survived Wenvoe struck. With the ball bobbing around in the box tired legs failed to clear and Wenvoe nipped in to equalise and deny Cadoxton the vital 3 points.
Manager Rogers was not displeased with Cadoxton's performance for his youngsters showed skill, courage and determination. But he knows they must use the summer to improve their physique and stamina if they are to fulfil their promise.
