AFC TADROSS met the Park Vets in this much anticipated cup final and arrived at Jenner Park Stadium an hour and a half prior to kick off to let their young squad saviour the occasion.

On the pitch it seemed that Tadross may have let the occasion get to them as the Vets took control of the game in the early exchanges.

A break down the left set Daniel Slack into the box where he was bundled down for a penalty which Kane Haines converted.

It was not long until the Vets claimed a deserved equaliser after a dangerous ball into the box was scrambled into the net.

This seemed to spur the Park on and soon they claimed their second after some nervous defending.

It looked as though the Vets would hold on to their lead until half time but excellent pressure from Daniel Slack forced an error from the Park defence which Gareth Osbourne pounced on to coolly slot home the equaliser.

At the interval Tadross knew they had to raise their game if they were to win their first piece of silverware. The second half was a tight affair with both defences cancelling out any attacking threats.

After the hour mark Tadross seemed to use their youthful energy to their advantage and piled on the pressure to no avail.

The deciding factor was a foul conceded by the Vets 35 yards out, and the free kick was rifled home by top scorer Bethan Gratton in spectacular fashion.

It was then Tadross's turn to slow the game down and weather the long balls being played up to the Vets front men who were kept under wraps by man of the match Nicky Perry and Chris Page, who was also outstanding.

After a brief snow storm the final whistle finally sounded to give Tadross their first trophy in their short history.

The post match party started at the Tadross where the lads sat down to a three-course meal followed by some well deserved alcoholic beverages. There were reports that a few senior players and management were still celebrating the win well into midweek.

The lads would like to thank Stuart and his staff for the new kit and for making it a day to remember. Also thanks to Beechwood Clinic, Porthcawl, who kindly sponsored the match ball.
