A FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl from Barry has been selected to represent Wales in both netball and basketball.

Georgia Hellerman, a pupil at St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School, received her recent call-up to the Wales under 17 netball talent squad, as well as the Wales under 16 basketball squad.

Whilst playing club netball for Llantrisant and Red Dragons, Georgia has been a member of the Cardiff & Vale county schools squad since she was 12, progressing through the Welsh ranks to take part in the Wales U16 development tournament in July. Georgia was selected as one of the top 45 players in Wales, earning herself a Wales U17 trial - then aged just 13.

After a vigorous Welsh trial selection day at the start of September, Georgia was selected as part of the Wales U17 talent squad.

Furthermore, Georgia, who represents Cardiff Met Archers in basketball and has also represented Basketball Wales at U12 and U14 level now goes on to play as part of their U16 squad.

She has represented Wales at international tournaments in Malta and Gibraltar, as well as in Britain, and after impressing at Basketball Wales trials in September has now made the squad, who will be training to represent Wales at the FIBA European Basketball Championships next July.
