CADOXTON Barry FC's first and second teams both top their respective divisions after emphatic wins for both sides over the weekend.

Llantwit Fardre 0-4 Cadoxton Barry F.C.

Morgan, Sansome,

Oaten, Adamson

Cadoxton's trip to Llantwit Fardre was for much of the game reminiscent of their three previous matches played this season, with the visitors overwhelmingly on top from start to finish whilst struggling to make the scoreline accurately reflect their dominance.

Cleary saw his header from a Morgan corner tipped over the bar early on, but it was not long before Cadoxton Barry did find the opener.

Warner rolled the ball out of his penalty area to Morgan, who exchanged passes with Oaten before scoring with a fine shot from the middle of the box in the eighth minute.

It would be difficult to catalogue the myriad of opportunities that then went begging up to the twenty-five minute mark when Fardre earned only their 2nd corner of the game. Though it was cleared, a curling shot was returned which Warner did well to latch on to.

And Warner was called into action again shortly after, coming to the edge of his box to smother the ball at the feet of an onrushing forward.

Cadoxton Barry resumed their pressure and it paid off when an Adamson free kick found the head of Sansome at the far post to bury into the net, putting Cadoxton 2-0 in front.

That goal came in the 35th minute and Cadoxton Barry continued to bombard the home goal until half-time, but some wayward finishing and resolute defending ensured that Fardre remained in touch as the whistle blew.

The second period began with Cadoxton Barry winning a string of corners which ultimately came to nothing. In a rare break however, Fadre won a free kick in the middle of the park which was comfortably taken by Warner, only for the Cadoxton keeper to launch a huge kick downfield and into the Fardre 18-yard box where, after one bounce, Oaten pounced to dink it over the advancing 'keeper and into the net.

With just thirteen minutes on the clock in the second half, most spectators were now expecting the floodgates to open, but any thoughts of a major goal-glut failed to materialise.

Soon after Adamson's sweet ball forward was flicked on by Oaten, but Dawson's headed effort was well saved.

Berry and Liam Jones came on in the latter stages, yet still the home defence remained dogged, with Berry's blast wide after Oaten had beaten the 'keeper to a loose ball the latest in a string of near misses. While there were some suggestions that the ball had been deflected by a defender's hand, these went unheeded by the referee.

With just a couple of minutes remaining Donnelly was brought on for Walsh and immediately after Cadoxton Barry won a corner which was taken from the left by Adamson with so much whip that it bounced near the far post before finding the far inside netting. Had it not been on its way in Dawson was on hand and would, no doubt, have added the final touch.

With the international break next week, Cadoxton Barry's next game will be on Saturday, September 9 at Bryn-Y-Don, where the visitors will be Aber Valley.

Vale of Glamorgan League Division Two

Cadoxton Barry 2nds 7-1 St Athan 2nds

Jenkinson 3, Yeoman 3,

Bobbett

This game started at a very fast pace with St Athan taking the lead from a very well struck free kick. And for the next 10 minutes Cadoxton Barry had their backs to the wall. Eventually waking up, LP went on a great run before setting up Bobbett for a fine finish. Now on the front foot, a further three goals followed in rapid succession.

Cadoxton Barry controlled the second half with Yeoman and Jenkinson completing quality hat tricks. And there was also a commanding display from Ben Eastman at centre back.

Finally, a special mention for the referee in thanks for a peerless 90 minutes of decision making.

The seconds' next game is on Wednesday, August 30 at Ceri Road, Rhoose, where they will meet Rhoose seconds in a 6pm kick-off.
