WEDNESDAY, May 4, saw the start of the mid-week Munro cup matches for Sully Bowling Club with an away trip to Barry Central and even thought it was a lovely night, it was a pity that the green was so very heavy to bowl on.
At Sully they ensure that anyone not selected for a game on Saturday has a place on Wednesday. This can sometimes lead to a very changed side, which made it all the better to not only win but with three rinks up, to win well.
Rink one: J Hubbard, D Davies, A Thomas and D Curtis 19-13.
Rink two: H Thomas, S Dibble, H Jones, and D Edwards 26-8.
Rink three: A Smith, T Murphy, J Best and I Paterson 22-20.
Rink four: A Rees, C Michael, D Hotchkiss and M Hardy, losing by the odd point, 11-12.
Result 53-78.
On Saturday, May 7, they travelled away to Cefn Cribwr on what turned out to be a beautiful day, again missing all the showers they would have experience had they played at home in Sully.
With no great expectations of a result against a strong well established club, it was a great delight to come away again with a win.
Congratulations to all that played, this was a great result and all their new bowlers should be very pleased with themselves.
D Curtin, T Murphy, D Hotchkiss and C Best 25-10.
S Norris, C Michael, A Thomas and D Curtis 25-7.
E Pryer, H Jones, M Hardy and B Griffiths 25-11.
B Curtis, G Neadly, J Best andD Edwards 11-24.
Overall 52-86.
This week they have Windsor at home on Wednesday, May 11, at 6pm and away again on Saturday, May 14 to Gilfach Goch in the WBA.
