COLCOT Amateur Boxing Club started the season with a bang as they travelled to Crosshands for a charity event hosted by Britton Ferry Boxing Club.

Colcot's Billy Johnson was on fire as he faced Swansea's Kevin Swallic from Gwent ABC. Being the taller boxer Johnson capitalised on this using his long range to keep his opponent at bay with straight shots forcing his opposite onto the ropes and driving his punches through the guard of Swallic forcing referee Jason Addison to administer a standing eight count.

It wasn't long after this that Johnson applied more pressure causing the referee to administer another eight count and finally stopping the fight in Johnson's favour by TKO3.

Ethan "Cobra" Knight was also on form as he took on Dalton Lane from the host club (Britton Ferry ABC).

Knight who was put under pressure from Dalton from the first bell soon had his boy in trouble with thunderous body and head combos stunning his opponent with his punching power.

Ethan then took control of the fight matching his opposite with short bursts of punches winning all three rounds comfortably to win an unanimous points decision.

Head coach Wayne Gurd praised his boys on good wins for the start of the season and is promising a lot more to come from his squad of 30 boxers with more boys in action across Wales this week.
