BARRY continued their recent good form in winning the latest league game against Canton at home last Saturday.

Opting once again to play a fast attacking game, Barry gave notice of what they are capable of with a fine early attack between backs and forwards that should have resulted in a try, but the chance wasn't taken.

Despite their obvious advantage up front and behind it was to take nearly 20 minutes before the first score came from a Scott penalty.

This seemed to be the spark that Barry needed, and with some fine movement behind the scrum it was not long before Adams crossed after a five man move with Scott adding the extras. Two more tries were scored in the following five minutes by Perry and White both converted by Scott.

The visitors at this stage had no answer to the power and pace of the home side and with minutes of the half to go were to concede another try from a driving lineout scored by Evans again Scott was successful to give Barry a 29 point lead and a bonus point.

Williams joined the fray following an injury to Scott as the second period began. Canton to their credit began to get some good possession from which they tried to pressurise the Barry eight but despite their endeavours were unable to breach the stubborn home defence.

The loss of a player to the bin didn't help their cause as from the resultant penalty, taken quickly; Perry made the break with Hadfield on hand to take the final pass to open the second half scoring.

Lundy replaced the injured Vidal as Barry regained the initiative and following a break from White assisted by Adams saw Provis take the final pass to score with the conversion from Scott being successful.

Canton threw caution to the wind at this stage and after enjoying some good possession finally breached the home defence with a well taken try.

The game had become more open at this stage as Buckland replaced Adams with chances to score at both ends being missed. However the home side added a further try as Scott took on the defence and crossed near the posts to make the conversion a formality.

This score somehow caused Barry to lose their concentration for a time and they paid the penalty by conceding two quick tries to the visitors who were intent on going down fighting.

This rude awakening brought Barry to their senses and after backs and forwards had driven towards the line came to Hollister who stormed over the line from some distance, to give Scott an easy conversion.

The final minutes ticked by with Barry in command and attacking from all areas with White particularly unlucky after a well created break. With the pressure still being applied it was not surprising when after a strike against the head the resultant space gave Perry the final score of the game to give the home side a comprehensive 60-15 win which keeps them joint top of the League.

With four sides equal at the top of the table including Llantwit Major who Barry faces away this weekend, every win is vital as are the bonus points.

However what is not in doubt is that the players are fully committed and offering some exciting and entertaining rugby to the watching supporters
