BARRY Beavers Disabled Swimming Club clinched every colour medal available to secure a successful day at the Welsh Championships on Saturday, September 20.

The club competed against seven other Welsh clubs, in Pontypool, bringing back three golds, three silvers and seven bronzes and finishing second overall.

Gold medallists were Jack Kemp in the boys 25 metres, Ffion Jones in the girls 100 metres and Nicholas Cushen in the mens 100 metres.

Silver medallists were Natasha Lynch in the girls 25 metres, Courtney Rogers in the girls 50 metres and Jesse Rodgers boys 50 metres.

Bronze Medallists were Abigail Finch in the girls 25 metres, Talisha Rogers in the girls 50 metres, Robert Lynch in the mens 50 metres, Sarah Davies in the ladies 100 metres, James Jones in the mens 100 metres and in the Junior Relay: Tyler Savory, Jesse Rodgers, Courtney Rogers, and Layla Rogers.

Two brothers both improved their times - Tyler 12 seconds, Calum 10 seconds other swimmers competing were Lucy Lynch, Philip Daly, John Evans, Shannon Rogers, Helen lynch, Sophie Woodham, Tracey Marchant, Kathryn Murphy, Richard Field, Matthew Lack, Louis Davies, and Mark Eveleigh who all improved their times. All races were very close so it was down to the split second and touch.

Club secretary, Patricia Finch said: “We would like to thank some of our helpers who helped on the poolside that day. They were Cath Jones, Andrea and David Lalande, Chris Economedies and Angela Price. Also the Vale of Glamorgan mayor and mayoress Howard and Carol Hamilton who also came to support us in their role as patrons - a big thank you to them for all the support we have from them is very much appreciated. We are all looking forward to our last gala of the year in October at the Rhondda Cynon Taff so good luck to all the team from your coach.”
