BARRY Saints welcomed GCAW to Wenvoe and maintained their perfect start to the season with an 8-2 victory. Saints striker Darren Townsend broke the deadlock after beating the offside trap and rounding the keeper to calmly slot the ball home.

GCAW were forcing the game looking for a reply which nearly came only to find centre back Rhys Hocking in the way to clear off the line. Saints began to dictate the tempo and Townsend took full advantage bursting past his defender to open up his body and bend a shot around the keeper into the far corner.

Nathan Williams got in on the act after a trademark powerful run latching on to a through ball to side foot under the on rushing keeper just before the half time whistle.

Saints came out with a bang and Townsend grabbed another to complete his hattrick as he used his chest to control a cross from Drew Burniston and lift a side footed volley over the keeper.

GCAW grabbed a goal from a cross from the right which was finished with ease. David A Evans added his name to the list of scorers after beating the offside trap and emphatically side footing the ball home.

GCAW were then awarded a penalty after a handball which was converted expertly. Straight from kick off a crisp passing move from the Saints gave David Evans the opportunity to strike a low powerful shot across the keeper which struck the post and crossed the line.

Townsend added his fourth after a good cross from James Rouse then finishing with a low effort in to the bottom corner. Michael Evans finished things off challenging for a bouncing ball, beating his marker he was left one on one before rounding the keeper to tap home.

Barry Saints would like to offer a special thanks to Nat the owner of Orchard House for his kind sponsorship helping the team going forward.
