NOW boxing out of the Rhoose club, Welsh amateur boxer Fred Evans will be seeking Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow later this month.
Evans, a London Olympics silver medallist, is now under the guidance of new trainer and highly rated Welsh performance coach - "Barry Bomber" Michael Smyth - working alongside former champion Colin Jones. He will be competing in the 69kg division.
The Rhoose club extends special thanks to Vale-based SMK Building and Maintenance for their support.

Team Wales is set to take arguably its strongest-ever boxing squad to the Games and it also includes European champion Andrew Selby (52kg), of Barry. James Thomas, performance director for Welsh Boxing, said: “With the combination of experience and enthusiasm in the squad, I’m confident that Glasgow 2014 will be a great Games for us.”
