BARRY Rugby Club held their annual presentation evening at the clubhouse last weekend.
The club was full with over 130 players and supporters, who following the meal, were entertained by guest speaker, ex-Wales, British Lion, Barbarian centre Steve Fenwick who gave the audience plenty to laugh about as he recalled the humorous tales about life as a top level rugby player both on and off the field.

The final two awards followed the player awards with the Chairman's Award being presented to Ray Gallivan for his untiring efforts throughout the Year and the Dai James Clubman of the Year Shield being presented to the chairman of the Mini and Junior Section, Peter Griffiths, who throughout the past year has been involved in virtually every aspect of the Club including the new training area and
The evening was also the occasion to say farewell to Darren Gibbon after 13 years as club coach.
Thanks were given to Darren by president Mal Scott and club captain, Hywel Jones together with mementos in recognition of his long service and commitment to both the players and club.
In an emotional response Darren thanked his fellow coaches for their support over the years including Andrew Prosser who was responsible for bringing him to the club in the first instance.
Whilst wishing the club and new coach John Bryant a successful future Darren also thanked the players and committee for their efforts over the years.
