A six-man team from the local St Andrew's Major Golf Club has won through to the second round of the South Wales Senior Classic.
In a competition involving 64 teams, St Andrew's beat Lakeside at home in a preliminary round before travelling to Porthcawl on May 12 and defeating Grove ‘B’ by winning at the first ‘sudden death’ hole after the tie was halved.
The South Wales Senior Classic competition is played in a pairs format, each tie consisting of three matches.
The St Andrew's team, captained by Mike Cockfield, was selected following four qualifying rounds played by senior section (aged 55 and over) members.
