ON A visit to Barry Island we were greeted with what appeared to be hundreds of brightly coloured cones, adorning the junctions at Cosy Corner.
We wondered if it was just nicely decorated for the holiday season or was it a new game set up for motorists called the “Christmas maze”?
Then we realised it was neither. This fiasco is designed by someone being paid to create a system that will cause chaos, mayhem and traffic jams instead of alleviating the traffic at busy times. A myriad of traffic lights will adorn the new estate and on the island they are now taking the place of two perfectly functional roundabouts that naturally keep traffic moving in all directions. Why are roundabouts being replaced by all these traffic light systems? Surely this causes more pollution, they require energy to run with maintenance costs too, which will inevitably end up on your council tax bill.
It does make you wonder if this is a plan by the government to slow up traffic so that in time they can contemplate the congestion charge?
