I WRITE with reference to last weeks article “MP not leaving council”.
What on earth is Cllr Chris Elmore playing at?
Having recently won the vote in Ogmore to become an MP, he has decided to continue to represent the Castleland ward in Barry too.
How is he able to do this? Surely travelling back and forth to Westminster representing Ogmore will leave him with no time to represent the Castleland ward?
It is my understanding that to be a local county councillor there is an ongoing requirement to remain qualified to be on the electoral roll in that Local Authority area at all times whilst elected. How is this the case when at the recent election for MP in Ogmore, Cllr Elmore stated on his ballot paper for his true address that he lived in Pencoed, Bridgend?
Clearly something is not right here, and the electorate has been misled. Here we have a person representing two different constituencies, surely that’s a conflict of interest?
He should resign from one position as it’s not fair on his electorate.
He wants the penny and the bun, and it shouldn’t be allowed.
It does however, demonstrate the lengths that some councillors will go, just to become career politicians.
