DEAR editor,

(Open letter to Alun Cairns MP)

When a minority of the electorate voted for you in the General Election we expected you to take up your seat in the House of Commons.

Having watched PMQs each week I am disappointed to see that you are neither big enough or important enough to be seated in the House of Commons. Standing at the back of the Chamber is hardly what we expect from our MP, and no doubt explains why you fail to spend too much time there.

I wonder whether it is time to campaign for the House of Commons to be made fit for purpose, with a seat allocated to each MP. It is inappropriate to see senior MPs such as Pritti Patel and Anna Soubray sitting on the floor behind the speakers chair, particularly as they are members of the Government.

With regard to the Chancellors Statement thank you for supporting the campaign to oppose Tax Credit cuts and withdrawing the plans to reduce police manpower. I look forward to your careful analysis of the situation in Syria and hope you will oppose indiscriminate bombing of civilians until we actually understand who we are fighting and why, and what positive outcome we hope to achieve.
