DEAR editor,
I say farewell to stress and fear
Stepping into woods with a minty aroma
Then the beautiful alluring vista
Of verdant Porthkerry Park holds my eyes
Trees now painted with golden hues
Birds and seagulls gliding in the air.
I cross a bridge over a lovely stream
Unsure if this is a fabulous dream.
A squirrel leaps across the path
As I pass the iconic white-washed house
Stopping at the cafe by the viaduct
A spectacular example of Victorian architecture
Its grandeur making us insignificant
And looking through the huge arches today
I'm greeted by an autumn sky of blue
And peer around just admiring the view
The wooden miner enhancing the scene.
I continue until my journey's end
The stony glory of Porthkerry Beach
And stare at the sun-kissed Channel with a silver path
Leading to the Somerset Hills
Who could ignore such beauty on our doorstep?
Oh, but now I must leave Porthkerry Park
Before it becomes sinister and dark.
