CARRYING on from the Vale Council's ridiculous plans to bring in parking charges on several sites in Barry, the question must be asked do these councillors have a clue what they are doing?

The Vale Council have once again done what they do on a regular basis and that is to bring in rules and regulations without consulting anyone else except themselves, but it now seems the Council has agreed to consult traders at a later date, I think it's a bit late for that now.

The traders must be congratulated on their stand on this while at the same time organising petitions which are gaining more and more signatures every day. I think that the councillor who seems to be the main architect of this, Cllr Gwyn John, is brought to task on comments he made a couple of weeks ago.

Cllr John stated that the reason for these parking charges are not monetary driven rubbish, Cllr John has recently stated that the idea of giving a free period of parking was considered but this would lose up to £190k of the £290k higher estimated income figure, why didn't Cllr John come clean from the outset.

He states that the Council must save £25 million over the next three years and the council cannot afford this potential loss, well, well, well, it's a pity Cllr John never thought of that when his Council coughed up £250,000 for a nice plush Council Chamber. Cllr John never thought of that when his council spent £230,000 on a fleet of cars, Cllr John never thought of that when his council coughed up over £120,000 for a new CEO, Cllr John never thought of that when his council spent over £24,000 of our money on consultants.

It seems that Cllr John has a memory lapse when it comes to spending money on things they want but it's ok to hurt us, the voting public, whenever they see fit.

This Vale Council is obviously not fit for purpose and instead of waiting until 2016 for the elections they should all hang their heads in shame and get out now.
