WITH regard to the article from Dominic Jones stating “Hospital fails to hit A&E targets” Barry and District News April 23.

He stated 100 people had waited 12 hours to be seen, he did not state what time of day these people were admitted.

My husband and I were admitted to University Hospital of Wales on Saturday, April 18, at 1pm. We would have expected to have had to wait especially on the weekend.

On being admitted the monitor stated approximately three hours waiting time, I counted the persons, there were 38 people waiting.

We were attended to within 10 minutes for checks, BP, etc, and which medication we were taking, we then returned to our seats and had time for a coffee. Quite soon after we were taken to the treatment room together where we have different people attending to us, I also had x-rays and told the results immediately.

Our injuries were cleared and dressed immediately, the service to us both was second to none as has any other outpatient’s treatment we have had in the past.

May I have the opportunity to thank the very kind people at King Square Barry who came to our help and stayed with us in bitter cold wind until the ambulance arrived. I might also add our family picked us up and we arrived back home in Barry at 5pm.

Thank you again from us both to all who helped us.
