READING the letter from David Kennet, and his comments of the cost of leaving the EU I have been listening to various comments from various politicians over the past few months notably Paddy Ashdown, and Ken Clarke both EU fanatics and I must say that I find their reasoning for staying in the EU laboured.

Every one of these politicians claim doom and gloom to our economy, jobs, etc but where’s the evidence, how on earth can they foresee what will happen?

I recently purchased items of fruit and veg at a local supermarket and the grapes came from South Africa and the corn on the cob came from Senegal are they part of the EU.

My reasoning to pull out of this club is as follows. We in this country are very soon to vote at a General Election to elect our future Government, we have been given this vote because it is part of the freedom and democracy that we have in this country, and can someone tell me when we voted to become part of the EU in its current form?

The EU is nothing but an unelected, corrupt, undemocratic institution that thrives on forcing its will on the people.

Let’s go back a bit to the EU Treaty, this had to be ratified by all EU nations ,Southern Ireland voted against this but was forced to vote again until a yes vote was achieved, is this democracy?

Our wonderful prime minister at the time, Gordon Brown, refused us in the UK a vote as he knew we would vote against it.

We are electing a government which will be tied in to all the rules and regulations of Brussels and there is not one single thing they can do about it.

When you have deals being done by the likes of Angela Merkel and the French president behind closed doors what chance has anyone got.

The British Government cannot even reduce VAT, or reduce the tax on petrol without the EUs permission.

The time is right to get out of this corrupt club, and spend the money on our own people.
