PEOPLE quite rightly want a say in how their local authority make decisions regarding amalgamation of councils. I would like to be able to access the current liquid assets, and debt each council was responsible for in making a decision.

Rather than me having to look at the accounts submitted by the councils of Cardiff, The Vale and Bridgend and probably misinterpret the data it would be useful if a summary was available in the local press.

It would seem that Cardiff is doing well compared to Bridgend but that may not be borne out when looking at the individual financial situations. This reorganisation we are told is about financial savings.

It may well be the case that the three councils should join together and is something I would want rather than setting areas against each other. That sounds political and whatever happens it will be the politicians who decide.
