With regards to the school places review article in the Barry & District News (January 9), these plans are pretty comprehensive and many parents or prospective parents will be concerned. The changing of catchment areas and closing of schools is always controversial and these papers show that there was clear plan, irrespective of local wishes.
I am astounded that there was no consideration to allowing the best schools to expand. They simply looked at where they could save money, rather than allow greater opportunities for the best schools. This would have allowed parents to chose which school and effectively, showing which schools don’t have support.
I cannot believe what their plans for Colcot were. The local authority need to give explanations. The disclosure of this paper, thanks to the Barry and District, will worry many parents about the Council’s hidden agenda.
