FOLLOWING last week's Remembrance Sunday services, I wanted to write to thank all those involved in marking such an important commemoration.
Although I could only attend the parade and service in Barry, I know that similar events were being held at the same time throughout the Vale. The turnouts were amazing and showed the special place in which war veterans and their families are held locally and nationally. I was especially proud to see the involvement of young people; standing side by side, in respect, to some of our oldest veterans.
These events don't just happen. Members of the Royal British Legion and other local civic groups go to huge lengths to organise the parades and services, along with the clergy, police and many others. All these efforts need to be recognised.
We owe so much to those who have served and their families. Lest we forget.
