Looking for photographs of local men held as prisoners of war
7:10am Thursday 20th December 2012 in Letters
I SHOULD like to thank the many readers who contacted me as the result of the recent article in your newspaper asking for photographs of WW2 medal winners for inclusion in my forthcoming book on Barry and the Second World War.
I am currently seeking photographs of men who were held as prisoners of war, either by the Germans or the Japanese.
A great number of them returned home in 1945 with harrowing stories to tell of inadequate food, terrible living conditions and forced marches. I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of these men by including their photographs in the book as well.
Relatives can contact me on 07708 255295 or by writing to me at St Cyres School.
