I WOULD like to encourage as many Dinas Powys residents as possible to respond immediately to the consultation on the future of the St Cyres school annexe site in Dinas Powys. Many people responded to the local development plan proposals and this is the same issue and as important for us.

Please ensure that you contact Mr Robert Jones at the Vale on rajones@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk to let him know what you would like to see at the site. My personal wish is that the site becomes an Olympic legacy site for a centre of sports excellence for athletes of all abilities, which can be used by local people and the wider Vale community.

This may need private funding or a hefty slice of public funding, but what I do not want to see is hundreds more apartments/houses contributing to our already choked roads. Too many school playing fields have been turned into housing. Our children are becoming more obese every year. The consultation began on November 12, but please don’t delay and let your voice be heard.

Cllr Christopher Williams Vale of Glamorgan Council
