A BARRY training centre for mediums and psychics is celebrating its success after scooping a prestigious award in a victory staff didn't predict!

The Guiding Light Centre, in High Street, Barry, has brought back the trophy for Most Popular Teaching School/Venue in the Welsh Spiritual Connections Acknowledgement Awards 2011, following a ceremony in Llanelli recently.

Medium-clairvoyant and centre owner Christine O'Neill said she knew one of the students Sarah Lloyd had nominated them, but no idea they would take the honour.

The centre, founded in 2005, offers a wide variety of training courses in mediumship and psychic development for those wishing to pursue a career as a medium-clairvoyant or those with a genuine interest.

It also offers courses in mediumship, tarot, numerology and psychic skills, and also provides assistance and guidance to experienced mediums and psychics to support them in developing their skills and business.

And a public vote between August and October this year saw Christine - who has done readings via Skype for people as far afield as Australia - meant it was the Guiding Light Centre that took the category central stage.

Christine said: "There were a lot of people getting up and saying, 'The nominees are and the winner is…' and we didn't know we had won.

"It was a funny feeling of 'Oh great' - I had a delayed reaction.

"I don't know what I was like or what I said - I was standing there stunned, but extremely pleased."

Centre manager and therapist Lynne Theophanides said: "A lot of us felt sure Chris would know, but she didn't.

"Chris is a psychic medium and we said, "They are not telling you?" and she said, "I'm not asking them!" For details about the centre, search for the Guiding Light Centre on Facebook or log onto www.guidinglightcentre.co.uk
