ELVIS is alive and well and making a visit to Barry, to bid farewell to two firefighters on a charity mission to row an ocean.

Atlantic Duo John Haskell and Jamie Windsor will welcome the King of Rock'n' Roll to the Barry Memorial Hall and Theatre at a Vegas Night, before departing for their Tenerife challenge start point at the end of this month.

John and Jamie are aiming to row 3,000 miles from La Gomera, Tenerife to Barbados.

But before they launch they will be holding one last fundraising event for their chosen charities, the Fire Fighters charity, Breast Cancer Care, Help for Heroes and the WRVS.

John’s brother, Matthew Craig Haskell, will fly back to Wales to perform as Elvis, Tom Jones and Dean Martin in a Vegas Tribute Night.

Matthew, a professional singer in Cyprus for more than 15 years, will be joined by local rock band, Brother Steve.

John said: "We have been so overwhelmed with the local support we have received and not just at fundraising events but from people just generally wanting to help.

"So many local businesses have helped us with equipment and donations, and none of this would be possible without the support of our key sponsor, CMB maintenance."

Matthew added: "This will be a fantastic occasion for very worthwhile causes and I am really excited about performing in the town I grew up in, in front of friends and family.

"I wish both John and Jamie all the luck in the world and am so proud to be supporting them."

A raffle, held on the night, will give guests the chance to win prizes including rugby kit donated and signed by Wales Rugby World Cup captain Sam Warburton.

Other prizes include a night at St David’s Hotel, golf at the Vale Resort, rugby tickets for the forthcoming Six Nations and a rugby ball signed by the current Wales squad.

The Vegas Night is at Barry Memorial Hall at 7pm on Saturday, November 12. Tickets, costing £12 each, are available by emailing team@atlanticdash.co.uk or from Barry fire station.

If you can’t make it but would still like to help John and Jamie reach their goal of raising more than £100,000 for their chosen charities, visit www.atlanticdash.co.uk for details on how to donate.
