Quality award for Barry Island Primary

WORKING TOGETHER: Barry Island Primary School is the first in the Vale to secure a National Healthy School Award.
HAVING achieved all the Welsh Healthy School awards over the past decade, schools can now work towards a new National Quality Award funded by the Welsh Government and recognised as part of the European Healthy Schools Network.
Barry Island Primary is the first in the Vale to succeed in securing this award after an assessment earlier this year.
Jane Hutt AM spoke at a ceremony held at the school, following the unveiling of the plaque by pupils who gave a presentation about the work they had undertaken for this national award.
Lee Waters, chair of governors said: "Barry Island Primary is proud to be leading the way as a healthy school, adding to our award as the best Eco school in Wales and the best IT school in the whole of the UK.
"Though we are only a small school, we think it is vitally important to keep pushing at boundaries to show the children of the Island how much we can all achieve when we work together and try our best." Jane Hutt said: "This was another great achievement for Barry Island Primary School."
