BARRY Dock Lifeboat crew and fundraisers took delivery of an end-of-year gift, thanks to the generosity of Barry Round Table.
Round Table members took a trip to the lifeboat station in December to present them with a £200 cheque, in recognition of their sterling efforts in keeping people safe off Barry’s coastline.
Members spoke to the volunteers about the RNLI’s service in the area.
Chairman of the Barry Dock Lifeboat fundraising branch, Christine Tutton said: "In these difficult times, when funds are hard to come by, every donation or legacy to the RNLI is very gratefully received, and is used for those in peril in the waters of the UK and Ireland."
Barry Round Table made charitable contributions in 2010 to the Red Cross; the Christian Lewis Trust; Action for Children; and to former Ysgol Gwaun y Nant pupil Tobias Lunnon, who was paralysed in a road accident.
Collections take place throughout the year with the ever-popular Santa’s float making a large contribution.
