THE CCTV operation working under the umbrella of the Safer Vale Partnership assisted with 15 arrests in the week ending Sunday, January 3.

CCTV contacted the police on 56 occasions, with four arrests made on December 29, one for shoplifting (Holton Road), one for theft from a vehicle (Windsor Road, Penarth), another arrest for disqualified driving (Holton Road) and a further for drink-driving (Glebe Street, Penarth).

Two arrests were made in Barry on December 31 – one for possession of an offensive weapon (Gladstone Road) and another for assault (Pendoylan Close).

Five arrests were made in Barry on January 1, 2010. Three people were arrested for affray at Gladstone Road, while two were arrested for assault and criminal damage at Broad Street.

In addition, four arrests were made on January 3 – one for dangerous driving, theft and possession of an offensive weapon (Broad Street), two for criminal damage to vehicles (two people, High Street and Market Street) and another for criminal damage to a vehicle (Queens Road, Penarth).

The Safer Vale Partnership comprises representatives of the Vale Council, Police, Fire and Rescue, Probation and Crown Prosecution Services, Vale Local Health Board, NHS Trusts, Vale Council for Voluntary Service and other statutory and voluntary bodies.
