A SIX-YEAR-OLD Barry talent school student has become the focal point of BBC One supernatural drama, Requiem, currently spooking the nation.

Emmie Thompson, a Superstars In The Making student of two years, landed the role of Carys Howell after auditioning when she was five years-old.

The St Athan primary school pupil plays a four-year-old girl who goes missing, with talented cellist Matilda- played by Lydia Wilson - connecting the disappearance with her own mother’s suicide decades later.

Emmie said: “Requiem is my TV debut however I had a brief appearance in a Moonpig TV commercial at Christmas a couple of years ago too.

“I auditioned when I was five and I was called back again and again until they offered me the role.

"They said I was what they were looking for, but I had to dye my hair darker. We realised later on in the year that the role was a very important one and how great Requiem was going to be. The script was amazing and it made me so happy that I was going to be Carys. I couldn’t believe it.

“I loved filming Requiem and meeting the cast and crew.

"I also loved playing around with Lydia (Matilda) on set when we weren’t filming. I will always remember them all and how much I enjoyed filming with them. I felt so lucky being there.

“When I first saw the trailer I was shocked that I was on the screen. I watched myself on that every morning until the series started.

"I’m too little to watch it because it’s too scary for children but my mum and dad showed me my parts. I say everyday 'I can’t believe I’m on the telly'.”

She added: “My family are so proud of me, they had a huge cake made for me to say well done.

"My nan couldn’t wait to watch me on TV. My friends at school have said they were allowed to see my parts on tv. I’m famous now.”

Requiem is on BBC One on Friday at 9pm and the entire series is available on BBC iPlayer.
