A MEMORIAL plaque at St Paul’s Church has been rehoused thanks to the efforts of Barry Town Council.

Rev Robert Parish of the Barry church contacted the council to enquire whether they were able to rehouse the plaque due to the imminent closure of St Paul’s.

The plaque commemorates those from the Parish of Dyfan within Barry who died in wars and conflicts from the First World War to the Falklands War.

There are 64 names on the plaque in total.

The council helped with the rehousing to ensure its continued existence for the people of Barry and the descendants of those who died.

Before being placed in the chapel at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery, it was cleaned and then relocated by a qualified monumental mason to ensure the preservation of the plaque during removal.

Anyone wishing to view the plaque can either speak to the cemetery staff or contact office staff on 01446 704920 to arrange a time and date to visit the chapel.
