CHILDREN flocked to Barry Library last weekend to take part in CBBC's live-aired "Awesome Authors".
The weekend event, held on both Saturday and Sunday, aimed at getting as many local children as possible to engage in reading and storytelling.
Saturday featured a storytelling session with Marsh Road Mysteries author Elen Caldecott, and drawing lessons with illustrator Huw Aaron.
The live event also saw children practise their artistic and detective skills with puppets, while helping to stop Danger Mouse's arch villain, Baron Greenback, from stealing library books.
On Sunday, guests were entertained by Mike Church, Anni Llyn and Vale author Cathy Farr with her Irish Wolfhound Mojo.
Jane Williams, 39, a mother-of-two who attended the event, said: "My children absolutely loved it.
"There was a good balance between play time and learning.
"My children have come away wanting to read much more now."
