THE Red Arrows show at Barry Island has been cancelled due to visibility issues.

The aerobatic team were due to perform this afternoon.

THE acclaimed Red Arrows aerobatic team has announced it will appear over Barry Island at 12pm on Sunday.

The world-famous crew is all set to wow tens of thousands of visitors with a not-to-be-missed routine above Whitmore Bay.

Transport fans are also in for a treat as the Transport Festival gets underway and the Barry Tourist Railway hosts a train with a park and ride shuttle service operating at 15 minute intervals from the Waterfront station, Hood Road, to the Island station, from 9.15am until 4pm.

Director of the Barry Tourist Railway, John Buxton said, ‘We are really excited about the event and my company, Cambrian Transport is pleased to be the main sponsor of the Red Arrows display. I’m pleased that we have enlisted the support of many Barry Island traders this year to help make the display happen including John’s Café, Marco’s, O’Shea’s café and Danter’s Fun Fair. Our last Red Arrows event brought over 40.000 people to Barry Island and year by year it’s growing and growing.”

The Festival of Transport is becoming one of the biggest events of its kind in the country with an display of road transport vehicles including vintage buses, lorries, cars, motor-cycles displays and military vehicles.

There will also be auto jumble and vintage stalls on the promenade and the War Museum inside Barry Island station.

Mr Buxton said: “Barry is a great place and we’re so pleased that we have secured the Red Arrows again for the event. Why not come along in vintage clothes and really get into the swing?

Parking and train fare from the Waterfront station cost £5 per car for up to five people and £10 for six to 12 people.
