CASTLELAND police and community support officers are urging shoppers to be vigilant following reports of purse and handbag thefts at Barry Morrisons.
The team said items had been taken from trolleys and senior citizens had been targeted.
Neighbourhood beat manager, PC Nicola Own, said: "They planned to be visible at Morrisons, from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, March 5 to offer public reassurance and crime prevention advice.
She said: “We will be giving away bells which can be attached to purses and handbags. I have updated the loss prevention officer from Morrisons and will be carrying out targeted patrols within the area.”
