FUNDRAISERS in Barry contributed thousands of pounds towards enabling a national televised charity appeal to raise its highest total ever on Friday, November 14.

Schools, groups and individuals became superheroes, got ready for bed, did something funny, or took a vow of silence to help the BBC Children In Need Appeal raise £32,620,469m.

Greggs, Holton Road, raised more than £3,000 with talkative shop assistant Alison Phillips taking part in a sponsored silence for eight hours ahead of the marathon fundraising day.

Gladstone primary raised £331, All Saints C/W primary £323.50, Colcot primary more than £200, and the Phillybear’s playgroup £34.

Romilly, High Street, and Jenner Park primary schools also joined in the dressing up fun.

All fundraisers thanked those who generously gave their support in helping them smash previous totals.
