RESIDENTS in the Colcot area are being given the chance to vote for their favourite designs for three play facilities that are set to be renovated.

Earlier this year, the Vale of Glamorgan Council was awarded funding from the Welsh Government’s Vibrant and Viable Places Fund.

As a result the existing facilities at Meggit road, including the play park and the goal ends, and the play area at Dryden Terrace and are set to be modernised, with residents having the final say on the designs.

Plans put forward by leading companies specialising in dynamic and attractive play equipment will be displayed at the Colcot Community Centre and on the council website so residents, children and young people can choose their favourite.

Play areas will have equipment suitable for disabled users and access at both sites will be improved to enable fully inclusive use.

Cllr Gwyn John, Cabinet Member for leisure, parks, culture and sports development, said: “I am pleased to see the involvement of the local community in this project which will increase play opportunities and help improve health and fitness in our young people. Play is an important part of a child’s development and upgrading these facilities will ensure this can happen in a safe and secure environment.”

Residents have until November 24 to cast their vote, which can be done online.
