A HOUSING association celebrating its 40th year and accommodating more than 1,300 Vale properties, has been unveiled as a top employer.

Newydd housing association was recognised as one of the top ten small employers in the UK for working families during the National Work-Life Week conference in London on Monday, September 24.

The event was organised by Working Families, a charity that helps working parents and carers and their employers find a balance between responsibilities at home and work.

Chief executive of working families, Sarah Jackson, said: “We warmly congratulate Newydd Housing Association on being named a Top Small Employer for Working Families. We had many excellent entries for the Small Employer Benchmark and gaining a much coveted place in the top ten is a tremendous achievement.”

Newydd staff can request any type of flexible working at any time.

Managers review and adapt requests to suit both the employee and needs of the business.

Flexible working has meant that Newydd can offer out-of-hours appointments to its customers and staff have extended hours of operation to support colleagues by varying their shift patterns.

Newydd staff also benefit from enhanced maternity and paternity pay, childcare vouchers and a health cash plan policy that their children can be added to for free.

Chief executive of Newydd housing association, Paul Roberts, said: “We are incredibly pleased to have been recognised for our flexible working and delighted to be the only housing association in the small and medium employer Top Ten. We work hard to ensure that our staff have flexibility when it comes to their work and home life balance. This is important to us to retain talented staff and to encourage employees to come back to work after a career break, such as maternity leave or illness, we are so pleased to have been recognised for our approach.”
