A BARRY girl is set to star in a Hollywood film after catching the eye of British director Richard Curtis.

Four-year-old Olivia Konten-Sloman stars alongside the likes of Bill Nighy, Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson in the romantic comedy ‘About Time'.

The film opens in cinemas on Wednesday, September 4, and will be Olivia's first foray into the acting world.

Olivia, who is about to start reception at All Saints Church in Wales Primary School in September, competed against hundreds of other children to clinch the part.

"I had lots of fun and I really enjoyed it,” said Olivia.

In the film she plays the character of Posy, the daughter of the main characters Tim, played by Domhnall Gleeson, and Mary, played by Rachel McAdams.

"I really liked Rachel McAdams as she was nice,” added Olivia.

Proud parents Jenny and Lloyd, of Oxford Street, had signed Olivia up to a child modelling agency after friends recommended that she would be a hit with her tan skin and red hair.

"She registered with an agency in London, Scallywags, and within a month had an audition in London,” said Jenny.

"We went to London and auditioned in front of Richard Curtis and got picked for the main characters daughter, Posy.

"There were quite a few children there, but he said they were looking for a girl with red hair and she fitted the bill."

Filming was split between London and Cornwall as Olivia 'was treated like a star' with her own trailer at the base where the filming took place.

Jenny, who teaches at Barry Comprehensive School, said: "It was a good experience on set.

“I chaperoned her most of the time and we had a chauffeur drive us around London too."

She added: "I stood next to Richard Curtis when they were filming and both Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson were both really nice too."

Dad Lloyd, 30, who also teaches, at Pontypridd High School, added: "We were well looked after and Olivia loved it.

"She was like a mini celebrity.”

He added: “When we were filming in Cornwall she went to play down the beach with the producer’s wife.

"She really enjoyed it and it was a fantastic experience."
