SUCCESS has come to young dancers of Barry who took part in a variety of street dance competitions recently and achieved great results.
Thirteen dancers aged eight-23 from Motion Control Dance took part in the IDO Welsh Championships in Port Talbot and the WDO Street Slam in Llantrisant, competing in the solo, duo and crew divisions against many other dance schools from across Wales.
At the IDO Championships, Callum Osborne succeeded in winning 1st place in the adult solo in February, where his ChainFam crew 'Alphalock' won adults team, with 'Outerlock' winning the children's team. Lloyd Williams achieved 3rd place in the children's solo and'. All these dancers have qualified to represent Wales in Copenhagen, Denmark in October this year. Fundraising has begun for these dancers to enable them to attend this prestigious hip hop competition.
The experience was very positive for the young people as they all performed to a very high standard, made new friendships and have a chance of a lifetime to dance for their country.
The young dance crew ERA consisting of Kia Harcourt (12), Keyleigh Borge (15), Billie James Cayton (14), Harriet Knowles (14) and Ryan Hodge (13) also smashed the under 16 team section on Sunday, May 19, at the WDO StreetSlam competition with their outstanding performance that was choreographed by new dance teacher Olivia Shouler.
