THE Rotary Club of Barry is set to stage an exceptional evening of fun and fireworks, at the 38th Fireworks Fiesta on Barry Island on Saturday (November 5). The event will be on whatever the weather, so ignore any rumours to the contrary!

By agreement with Pendragon Firework, based here in Wales, this year’s display should be bigger and better than ever.

Go along and enjoy yourselves in what promises to be a wonderful evening of fun, fireworks and music.

The fireworks will start at 7.45pm prompt, but to avoid the last-minute rush, the Rotary Club suggest you arrive from 6pm.

You will be able to enjoy the delights of the Island traders and the funfair before and after the main event. Parking is available in the main car parks for £2 a vehicle.

Limited disabled parking on Friars Road is also available.

Club members ask everyone attending to donate at least £1 into the collecting buckets, as the future funding of this event is in doubt. If everyone gave at least £1, it would ensure the continuation of the event, and help deserving causes so much more.

Over the years this has been a very popular event and traffic delays are to be expected, so where possible please car share and consider these alternative forms of transport to and from the Barry Island:

* Barry Docks Station/Barry Station: Park at either site and take the regular Arriva train service to Barry Island. For times visit www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk or ring 08457 48 49 50.

* Hood Road Train Service: The Barry Tourist Railway will be operating a train service from the Hood Road Station to Barry Island Station from 6pm to 9pm. Parking is free at Hood Road and a small charge applies for the return train journey.

The Rotary Club of Barry apologises to the residents of Barry Island for the inconvenience caused during the road closure period (5.30pm-9.30pm).
