A BAG of eight puppies was found dumped on a Barry doorstep last week.
The six-week-old pups were left in a hold-all, and have since been taken to a vet and passed to dog wardens at Croft Kennels to be re-homed.
Dog warden Jake Harris said: "They usually leave their mother at six weeks.
"What has probably happened is that the pups have started to leave their waste, and where beforehand their mother would have been cleaning them, the mother would stop.
"Then the pups would need cleaning – probably every hour or so – and I believe that the owners had enough and dumped them.
"They are not normally homed until they are eight weeks but in this case we don’t know where the mother is or what breed she is.
"Although we have had a lot of interest in re-homing them, it can be a bit difficult as we don’t know what breed they are because they are still so young."
Anyone with information about the puppies is asked to phone the kennels Jake added: "Someone in Barry must have seen a pregnant bitch, or known of someone whose pet was having pups.
"If they want to phone anonymously they can – we need to know the breed."
Anyone with information is asked to phone the kennels on 01446 709105 or contact us at the newsdesk on 01446 704978.
