A CADOXTON father-of-two is fearing for his children's safety after several cars were burnt out near his home in a spate of worrying incidents.

Andrew Ellis, 33, of Gilbert Street, says two cars have been left blazing in separate incidents over the past fortnight.

Mr Ellis believes youngsters may be behind the fires.

Mr Ellis has two sons, Matthew, 11, and Cieron, 5. He said: "About two weeks ago a Red Vauxhall Nova was left in the lane behind the house. I saw the doors open and thought people were cleaning it.

"But between 10pm and 11pm I saw black smoke and the car was on fire.

"Then last Tuesday a white Fiesta was dumped in the lane and that was set alight in the early evening.

"I get the usual cars screaming around, but with the fires it's getting worse."

He added: "I used to live in the Gibbonsdown and that used to be quite bad. Eight and ten year olds used to steer cars down the hill and set fire to them. That's what it's starting to get like in Cadoxton."

He said: "It's teenagers or younger. They should lock them up or something. We're worried about our children because there are kids on motorbikes on pavements. "Our kids play outside the house and we are worried."

He said that one night a neighbour also thought he heard gun shots.

"My works van had its window put through three weeks ago. They took a gazebo from my garden and tried dragging a swimming pool out.

"Any time there's a car left round here it's burnt out. It's ridiculous."
