IT SEEMS obvious to me that the council has no interest in refurbishing the Knap pool.
A few months ago when plans were submitted for flats to be built on the site, it was stated that if it was sold to developers the money raised could pay for much needed improvements to the lake and its surrounds.
What would be the next bit of prime development land to be sold off, if in a few years the lake needed re-improvement?
The pool, on fine summer weekends, when open, attracted thousands of visitors (not all from Barry), and yet received little or no funding towards essential maintenance, yet other so called attractions receive the council's full support and tens of thousands of pounds in grants.
Is one of the reasons for lack of funding to do with the practice of donning a yellow hard hat on the slightest excuse by our publicity conscious councillors?
Are they worried that if it was worn with a swimming costume, it would make some of them look more stupid than they do now?
